Today’s Prayer:

A NEW YEAR’S PRAYER

I come to You, God, as a child comes to a Father: lovingly, happily, confidently. I know that I have let You down this past year, many times and in many ways; You know them all far better than I.  But I know Your heart is a Father’s heart, and Your arms even now reach out to welcome me.   So I do not hesitate to confess to You, that I am not what I ought to be, nor even what I want to be: Your loving child. I rest my case for pardon solely in Your grace.  I put my trust completely in Your Son, Jesus, my Savior and Lord.  I depend on His atoning death for me.  I ask Your Spirit’s help as I promise anew to live as your child, with renewed concern for obeying Your will, with more of Your love shining through my life, with deeper loyalty and understanding to my family, and

with a greater desire to serve You and Your people, in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
