4:00 – 4:30pm
Blue Christmas is a brief service of readings and silence, enhanced by special music and candlelight. This service is designed to minister to people suffering with pain, loss, isolation, and grief in the upcoming holiday season. This service is for those of us for whom the holidays are not joyful; we may be lonely, in mourning, feeling alienated and disconnected from family and friends. In the midst of sadness, depression and grief, we may feel pressured to “put on a happy face.”
The purpose of this special time is to provide a safe place for the struggles that you may be facing. This service held at the time of year when the night is longest, reminds us how despair can seem never-ending. It acknowledges our losses, whatever they may be, and affirms us in the grieving process.
We pray that though this time of meditation, you will feel the love and support of your church family, and the grace and compassion of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
If you know of someone who is struggling at this time with any loss or sorrow, whether recent or not, feel free to invite them to be part of this “Blue Christmas” experience. Better yet, why not bring them yourself?
Come join us for our Blue Christmas Service.
