Living Christ Outreach

Living Christ has a tradition of responding generously to support individuals, missions and ministries in the Madison area and around the world whenever needs arise.

Outreach Descriptions

Middleton Outreach Ministry

Living Christ joins with 11 other Christian Churches in the West Madison/Middleton area to provide assistance to families in need including:  a food pantry, senior independence services, used furniture/clothing program, counseling, job placement assistance.

Summer Bible Classes in Northern Canada

Each summer, Living Christ members travel to northern Saskatchewan to conduct vacation Bible School for a group of native children at Stanley Mission.  This event is done in coordination with LAMP – Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots.

Gateway Scholarships

We offer grants-in-aid at our Preschool for children of low-income families in our neighborhood.

Garden Plots

A portion of our church property is used by low-income families for garden plots.

Living Christ Quilters

An active group of women meet regularly to make quilts that are distributed by Lutheran World Relief throughout the world.

Partnerships with Sister Churches outside the United States

Living Christ is in fellowship with congregations in Russia, Germany and Guatemala.

Bethesda House of Thrift

Several of our members team up monthly to staff the House of Thrift Store on Sherman Avenue in Madison.  Profits from this resale shop go to support the ministry of Bethesda Lutheran Homes.

Lutheran Social Ministries in the Madison Area

Along with other Lutheran Churches, Living Christ and several individual members are active supporters of the Dane County Jail Ministry, the International Friendship Center on the UW campus, a hospital chaplaincy and the ministry to the deaf at Silent Lutheran Church on Madison’s East side.

Member Support

We have an active program of supporting members of our family by providing meals to those who recently experienced the joy of childbirth or are recovering from a stay in the hospital.  Similarly, we have a program to provide transportation to medical appointments or to do shopping for members who would otherwise have difficulty making the trip.
